We love that this small manufacturer of commercial grade high power blenders, Blendtec, accidentally created an immensily poplar YouTube series that has attracted millions of viewers. The story goes that the guys in the R&D department were fooling around with the latest blender model and thought it would be cool to throw a 2×4 into the blender to see or prove that it would blend. One of the participants pulled out his portable video camera and recorded the action and put it out on YouTube to share with friends and such. Thousands were drawn to the video and then tens of thousands and of course the audience demanded more. “What else can you blend.” Yes, someone asked if an iPhone would blend. If you’re squeamish about expensive electronics, especially those produced by Apple, being destroyed for the pure fascination of it, don’t hit play! We will work on getting the numbers. What was the net result of destroying random objects in blenders? The latest report is a 5x increase in sales. Way to go Blendtec!
